The ITMA Tea Sommelier Certification Course™ for becoming an ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier™ starts with the 2-Day ITMA Comprehensive Tea Sommelier Course™ held on-site at the Waldorf Hilton, London on March 11th & 12th, from 9am to 5pm each day.

You are invited to experience the truly British tradition of Afternoon Tea at the Waldorf Hilton with its historic and elegant surroundings. Guests may unwind with a glass of Champagne and choose from a selection of 13 fine loose leaf teas. Savor a selection of finely cut sandwiches, warm freshly baked scones and delicate pastries that change seasonally and are beautifully served on a three-tiered stand made of Royal Crown Derby fine bone china. Royal Crown Derby is a Royal Warrant holder and supplier to The Royal Household.
The 8-Week ITMA Tea Sommelier Tasting Course™ starts the following week involving home study, tasting and evaluating 18 different teas, and periodic online teleconferences to share experiences and ask questions. This will be followed by tasting and evaluating a Mystery Tea, a Report (oral or written) on a topic assigned by ITMA, and a Final Examination ($95 Examination Fee).
The training will be led in English by ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier™ and ITMA Certified Tea Blender™ Stijn Van Schoonlandt. With a strong background in tea and blending, and proprietor of his own coffee and tea establishment in Belgium, he promises to make this an especially memorable, life-changing experience for everyone.

The training contains all the educational requirements an individual needs for achieving the association’s prestigious ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier™ designation once the program, blind tea tasting, oral (5 minute) or written (4 page) dissertation with a subject assigned by the ITMA, and 100+ question final examination are successfully completed.
Registrants will experience some of the most exquisite loose-leaf teas from around the world. The training will also include: Health Benefits of Tea and Valuable Guest Service Skills.
