The ITMA Tea Sommelier Certification Course™ for becoming an  ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier™ starts with the 2-Day ITMA Comprehensive  Tea  Sommelier  Course™,  June 15th – 17th, 2017, from 9am to 5pm each day. The first two days will be held on-site in a meeting room at the Grand Naniloa Hotel Hilo – a DoubleTree by Hilton.

The next day, July 17th, involves a group journey to the top of the mountain at 4000 feet above sea level to the Tea Hawaii Estate in Volcano Village. The estate is where registrants will get to hand-harvest tea (weather permitting) and experience the four steps involved in processing the tea to a final stage before returning to the hotel in Hilo.

The 8-Week ITMA Tea Sommelier Tasting Course™ starts the following week involving home study, tasting and evaluating 18 different teas, and periodic online group teleconferencing to share experiences and ask questions.

eva_lee_200hemiko_200hThe training will be led by ITMA Certified Tea Master™ Emiko Claire Doi and Eva Lee ITMA Honorary Certified Tea Master™ and Master Tea Grower at the Tea Hawaii Estate, who will be directing the tea harvesting and processing for registrants. They promise to make this an especially memorable experience for everyone.

Accommodations are available  at the Grand Naniloa Hotel Hilo – a DoubleTree by Hilton ($179 per nightwhere the  2-Day ITMA Tea Sommelier Tasting Course™ will be held. The training will include all aspects of tea production from planting and cultivation to harvesting, processing, and grading, as well as tasting numerous extraordinary teas. Up to 10 registrants can be accommodated. Seating is limited.

The training contains all the educational requirements an individual needs for achieving the association’s prestigious ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier™ designation once the program, blind tea tasting, dissertation, and final examination are successfully completed.

Registrants will experience some of the most exquisite and often rarest loose-leaf teas from Hawaii and around the world. The training also includes: Health Benefits of Tea and Valuable Guest Service Skills.
