The ITMA Tea Sommelier Certification Course™ for becoming an ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier™ starts with the 2-Day ITMA Comprehensive Tea Sommelier Course™ held on-site in Honolulu, Hawaii from November 18th – 19th, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm each day. The 8- Week ITMA Tea Sommelier Tasting Course™ starts the following week involving home study, and tasting and evaluating 18 different teas.
The training will be led by ITMA Certified Tea Master™ Emiko C. Doi, who has a strong background in the tea industry and expertise in the Japanese and Chinese tea ceremonies. She promises to make this an especially memorable, life-changing experience for everyone.
Accommodations are available at the Ohana East Hotel. The 2-Day Comprehensive Tea Sommelier Course™ will be held in a Conference Room at the hotel, which accommodates up to 10 registrants. Seating is limited.
The training contains all the educational requirements an individual needs for achieving the association’s prestigious ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier™ designation once the program, blind tea tasting, oral (5 minute) or written (4 page) dissertation with a subject assigned by the ITMA , and 100+ question final examination are successfully completed ($95 examination fee).
Registrants will experience some of the most exquisite loose-leaf teas from around the world. The training will also include: Health Benefits of Tea and Valuable Guest Service Skills.
Registrants will also get to experience the pleasures of Pairing Dim Sum with Tea at the prestigious Yauatcha Waikiki, a short distance from the hotel at the seashore ($71.65).
