Recognized throughout the world, the International Tea Masters Association is the Gold Standard in tea education for becoming an ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier™ at the upcoming ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier Course™ starting September 30th, 2017, in Midtown Manhattan in New York City.
The training begins with the 2-Day ITMA Comprehensive Tea Sommelier Course™ held on-site at the Cambria Hotel & Suites New York – Chelsea on September 30th & October 1st, from 9am to 5pm each day. The Cambria is a brand new hotel located in the flower district in the hub of Manhattan’s arts and culture scene. You will be steps away from iconic attractions like the Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden and Macy’s Herald Square. Enjoy the scene of the Chelsea Market or take a stroll along New York’s #1 attraction, The High Line.
The 9-Week ITMA Tea Sommelier Tasting Course™ starts the following week involving home study, tasting and evaluating 18 different teas, and periodic online group conference sessions to share experiences and ask questions. This will be followed by tasting and evaluating a Mystery Tea, a Report (oral or written) on a topic assigned by ITMA, and a Final Examination ($95 Examination Fee).
The training will be led by ITMA Certified Tea Master™ Claudia Zárate Vergés. With an extensive background in Wine, Tea, and Fine Cuisine, she promises to make this an especially memorable, life-changing experience for everyone.

The 2-Day ITMA Comprehensive Tea Sommelier Course™ will be held in a meeting room at the hotel, which accommodates up to 10 registrants. Seating is limited. ITMA’s last training at the hotel filled up almost immediately following its announcement.
The training contains all the educational requirements an individual needs for achieving the association’s prestigious ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier™ designation once the program, blind tea tasting, dissertation, and final examination are successfully completed.
Registrants will experience some of the most exquisite and often rarest loose-leaf teas from around the world. The training will also include: Health Benefits of Tea and Valuable Guest Service Skills.
